Our Beliefs

Our mission statement

“To be a safe place to Begin and to Build and relationship with God”

What that means to us: We want The Forge to be a place where people can come and be honest about who they are and where they’re at spiritually and learn about Jesus in a community where they will experience love, fun and caring.

Our approach

We have a modern and casual style while holding firmly to the teachings of the Bible. That means that while our services don’t feel old style and traditional, we do not compromise on our beliefs. Our pastor’s goal in every single sermon is take the teachings of the Bible and deliver them in a way that is understandable, even to people who may have never gone to church before.

Our beliefs and denomination

In short, we believe that the Bible is true and trustworthy. And we believe Jesus died and on the third day rose from the dead and because of that we can have salvation if we accept Him as our Saviour. That’s the core, though there’s obviously a lot more to what we believe than that.

If you have attended a modern style baptist or modern style mennonite church before then you’ll probably be familiar with our beliefs. If you haven’t, you might have some questions and we’d be happy to answer them. Pastor Bill is available to meet with you for a coffee or you can send us your question through our contact page.

Our denomination is the EMC (Evangelical Mennonite Conference). You might have some reservations about denominations, that’s ok we do too. We know that denominations can sometimes divide Christians when we strongly believe churches should be working together, but the EMC is a great group of churches that are happy to work with other denominations and the EMC has also been gracious and helpful in The Forge getting started.
